Area 18 Combined Training with Grass Roots Qualifier
(in previous years this has been a qualifier for Royal Windsor)
Saturday April 26th
Dodderhill Court, Crutch Lane, Droitwich Spa, WR9 0BE
For the combined training we need teams of 4 – Juniors and Seniors
Two riders will ride prelim 18 and then jump a course of 75cm
show jumps, two riders will ride novice 30 and jump 85cm show jumps. We can also send individuals for this class now but not sure
of cost as the book doesn’t make sense!
Costs - team total = £98 so if split between 4 = £24.50 each rider.
If you are a SENIOR and you are interested in this, please contact Caroline Robson (firstname.lastname@example.org) ASAP, she will be team manager for all Senior Show Jumping classes. If you are a JUNIOR please contact Miranda Loffet (email@example.com).
Also at this event there is a qualifier for the Grass Roots
Dressage, riding Prelim 18. This qualifies for the final which will be at the Festival
of the Horse at Aston Le Walls. Again sections for juniors and seniors. If you are interested in this class please contact Cathy
Ruane (firstname.lastname@example.org)– Dressage Manager for juniors and seniors.
April 27th at Swacliffe Park Equestrian, Banbury, OX15 5EU
Area 18 Festival of the Horse Challenge
The Schedule will be on our website if you want to take a look, and also open classes if your horse is over qualified.
90cm = 85cm show jumping + 90cm XC
100cm = 95cm show jumping for juniors + 100 cm XC
100 cm show jumping and XC for seniors
Classes for individuals, teams of 4 and pairs (pairs at 90cm height only)
For the 90cm horses must have NO BE points and for 100cm horse must have no more than 20 BE points. Very important that this is checked!
Costs – teams of 4 = £128 = £32 each rider (if 4) more if only 3
Individual = £35
Pairs = £58 so £29 each
These costs include the prelim entry fee which we have to pay in advance to the British Riding Club Office.
Seniors interested in this need to contact Amy Vowles (email@example.com)
Junior members need to contact Miranda Loffet (Miranda@mirandamia.plus.com)
IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ENTERING ANY QUALIFIERS AT AREA LEVEL IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOUR HORSE IS CORECTLY VACCINATED AND THAT THE RECORD OF THEM IS UP TO DATE!
Open to non-members too! These weekly showjumping clinics take place at Chris' yard in Icomb and are on Wednesday afternoons (most Wednesdays, possibly not all). Chris has a lovely all-weather outdoor arena with a good range of showjumps and gridwork options. Sessions are £20 per person in groups of max 3. All abilities can be accommodated. If you are interested in booking a place please contact Sharon Gauld on 07765 151669 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Evenlode Riding Club results from the Area 18 Winter Dressage were very pleasing!
The Junior Evenlode Robbins team - Holly Osborne, Bizzy Loffet, Harriet Lees & Honor Barker came 1st & therefore will qualify for the final! ...Brilliant!
The Junior Evenlode Reindeer team were a close 4th place
There were 3 senior teams & the green team - Amanda Atkinson, Louise Hinckley, Lucy Graham & Cathy Ruane finished in 3rd place so just missing out on getting to the final.
The Blue team - Juliet Robbins, Rachel Ryder, Sue Greenaway & Demelza Ruane were 14th.
The Yellow team - Karen Rawlins, Debbie Mason, Marie French & Emily Lycett were 17th.
25 team took part so our results were excellent.
Demelza deserves a special mention, she replaced someone who couldn't come only the day before and competed on a horse she had never sat on - belonging to her brother and then came 3rd in her section!!
Very many thanks to all those members who offered to take part and represent the club. It was a long day but very worthwhile.
Report from our Chaiman, Cathy Ruane...
Evenlode Riding Club had a great team of riders and helpers at the BRC Championships this year, twelve riders and thirteen horses/ponies plus supporters made the trip up to Lincoln, with several people and horses staying there for two nights. The trip up on Friday was marred a bit by delays on the roads but everyone arrived safe and sound, even though it was a bit late for the planned BBQ.
Saturday morning dawned bright with not a cloud in the sky, it did cloud over later but it stayed dry all weekend. Demelza was the first to start us off with her Elementary test on Highway Kid. From then on it seemed non stop for team Evenlode!
Sadly, after managing all the paperwork involved with this event, booking stabling, packing my own car and trailer whilst Demelza was in Uni, I had packed my camera but had forgotten to charge the battery, so no pictures!
After all our hectic competing and some very good results, we settled our horses down for the night and then got on with a superb BBQ, mostly cooked by Simon Atkinson, who was our hero!
Sunday morning started early again with almost the entire pony team arriving in one go, thanks to team Loffet at 7am. They were able to park with us, right at the back of the show ground, and with in a very short time they were off in all directions, competing in their various events. Again a non stop day but also a very happy and competitive one.
Thanks to all members who competed at area 18 competitions this year and to all those who have been to Championships. Let’s keep on with our efforts as it has been great fun!

All riders taking part in ERC training clinics must provide the clinic organiser with an emergency contact name and number. Ideally you should wear your medical card whilst riding so that your details are to hand if needed (essential for those taking part in XC clinics/lessons). Please ensure that this information is kept up to date.
If you have any photos, reports, videos, items for sale, or schedules for events that you would like added to the website please send them through to email@example.com
(I can give you a link to somewhere secure to upload videos).
