Area 18 Winter Dressage Qualifier

Hartpury College, Gloucester
2nd November

The Evenlode Riding Club results from the Area 18 Winter Dressage were very pleasing! The Junior Evenlode Robins team – Holly Osborne, Bizzy Loffet, Harriet Lees & Honor Barker came 1st & therefore will qualify for the final! …Brilliant! The Junior Evenlode Reindeer team were a close 4th place.

There were 3 senior teams and the Green team – Amanda Atkinson, Louise Hinckley, Lucy Graham & Cathy Ruane finished in 3rd place so just missing out on getting to the final. The Blue team – Juliet Robbins, Rachel Ryder, Sue Greenaway and Demelza Ruane were 14th. The Yellow team – Karen Rawlins, Debbie Mason, Marie French & Emily Lycett were 17th. 25 teams took part so our results were excellent. Demelza deserves a special mention, she replaced someone who couldn’t come only the day before and competed on a horse she had never sat on – belonging to her brother and then came 3rd in her section!! Very many thanks to all those members who offered to take part and represent the club. It was a long day but very worthwhile.

Report from our Chaiman, Cathy Ruane…

Evenlode Riding Club had a great team of riders and helpers at the BRC Championships this year, twelve riders and thirteen horses/ponies plus supporters made the trip up to Lincoln, with several people and horses staying there for two nights. The trip up on Friday was marred a bit by delays on the roads but everyone arrived safe and sound, even though it was a bit late for the planned BBQ.

Saturday morning dawned bright with not a cloud in the sky, it did cloud over later but it stayed dry all weekend. Demelza was the first to start us off with her Elementary test on Highway Kid. From then on it seemed non stop for team Evenlode!

Sadly, after managing all the paperwork involved with this event, booking stabling, packing my own car and trailer whilst Demelza was in Uni, I had packed my camera but had forgotten to charge the battery, so no pictures!

After all our hectic competing and some very good results, we settled our horses down for the night and then got on with a superb BBQ, mostly cooked by Simon Atkinson, who was our hero!

Sunday morning started early again with almost the entire pony team arriving in one go, thanks to team Loffet at 7am. They were able to park with us, right at the back of the show ground, and within a very short time they were off in all directions, competing in their various events. Again a non stop day but also a very happy and competitive one.

Thanks to all members who competed at area 18 competitions this year and to all those who have been to Championships. Let’s keep on with our efforts as it has been great fun!

Area 18 Dressage Qualifier

Crown Farm

This was very nearly an Evenlode whitewash with our teams taking all but one of the qualifying places for the championships. It will be a very sociable affair up in Lincoln with so many of our talented horses, ponies and riders there! Here are the full results with individual placings after their name:
Senior Novice Dressage (Prelim 14 test) – Team 1st (Charlotte Ambrose – 5th, Emily Lycett – 7th, Amanda Atkinson, Cathy Ruane)
Senior Open Dressage (three Novice tests, one Elementary) – Team 1st (Lucy Graham – 2nd, Louise Hinckley – 1st, Laura Taylor – 1st, Demelza Ruane – 5th)
Senior Pairs Dressage – Team 2nd (Cathy Ruane & Demelza Ruane)
Junior Dressage (Prelim) – Team 1st (Amber Cartlidge – 1st, Bizzy Loffet – 1st, Neil Atkinson – 4th, Holly Osborne – 1st) and also Team 2nd (Tia Bolter – 2nd, Bizzy Loffet – 1st, Holly Osborne – 1st, Kismet Bandeen – 4th)
Junior Pairs Dressage – Team 1st (Bizzy Loffet & Amber Cartlidge) and also Team 2nd (Neil Atkinson & Bizzy Loffet)

You can’t ask for much more than that from an ERC outing!!! Huge congratulations to all our riders. We must give a particular mention to Bizzy Loffet for doing a sterling job jumping on and off ponies all day long to make sure she was ready with each at the right time (and of course to mum Miranda for pony prep, test reading and all round organisation!). Also Emily Lycett was called up two days before to fill a spot when someone couldn’t come and Neil Atkinson got a call late on Saturday asking if he could do an extra test to make up a team. Thanks a million to both of you for stepping in at such short notice.

Badminton Dressage Championships

Badminton
15 July

ERC sent a team of three to the Badminton Dressage Championships – Amanda Atkinson, Louise Hinckley & Lucy Graham. They did very well coming second as a team and then Louise (with the highest score of the team) going forward to the second test in the afternoon and finishing in third place overall. Well done everyone!

Area 18 Horse Trials Qualifier

Sapey Cross Country
7th July 2013

It was a great day for Evenlode at the Area 18 Horse Trials on 7th July. Isabella Ponti with Chantilly Wisdom came 2nd in the 90cm class. In the 100cm (Senior Intermediate) class the team (Heather Moodie, Katie Whitaker, Mandi Wooliams & Caroline Robson) came 2nd, with Heather 4th individually & Mandi 5th. The 100+ (Senior Open) team (Louise Hinckley, Hilary Ponti & Demelza Ruane) then finished 1st with Louise 2nd individually, Hilary 3rd & Demelza 5th. what a brilliant result for everyone! The 100+ team should be off to the Championships in August at Swalcliffe Park! Hopefully lots of you will come along to cheer them on.

Area 18 Senior Showjumping Qualifier

Malvern Showground
26th May 2013

The Senior Open team jumped fantastically at Three Counties Showground on 26th May and ended up in first place and qualified for the National Championships at Lincoln in September. Well done to Louise Hinckley, Demelza Ruane, Judy Tice and Hilary Ponti. A fantastic result!

The Senior Intermediate team (Judy Tice, Holly Trigg & Lucy Graham) were not so lucky and didn’t get a placing as a team but individually Judy finished 2nd (on a different horse to her open horse) and Lucy was 3rd. In the Style Jumping Holly Trigg finished just out of the rosettes (she thinks 7th or 8th) but with 29 in the class that was a great achievement!

Area 18 Junior Showjumping Qualifier

Cleeve Prior, Evesham
19th May 2013

Evenlode Juniors scooped lots of rosettes on 19th May at the Area 18 Junior SJ Qualifier at Cleeve Prior. The Novice Team of Bizzy Loffet, Holly Osborne, Amber Cartlidge and Neil Atkinson came 3rd with Biz 2nd individual on Bob. Bizzy won the Style on Petal and 2nd on Bob with Holly 3rd on Freddie, one point between them. Biz and Petal were also highest placed individuals in the intermediate class. Bob and Petal jumped 88 jumps without fault!

ERC Winter Dressage Series

Huge thanks to Lyneham Heath Equestrian for allowing us to hold our popular winter dressage series there this year. Sam Sandberg and her team do a wonderful job preparing the facilities so we’re very lucky to be able to make use of them. Unfortunately we had to cancel our January show due to the snow and ice but results for the other two shows are below.

ERC Dressage November 2012
ERC Dressage February 2013

The overall championship results are as follows:

1st placed junior was Holly Osbourne with 19 points.
Kismet Bandeen as runner up with 17 points.
