We are here to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our members from the recent AGM held in December 2024. This month’s newsletter is devoted to honouring our champions, sharing highlights from recent competitions, and looking forward to what promises to be a thrilling year. Let’s dive into the details of our trophy and prize winners, the impressive performances at various events, and the strong bonds that make our group truly unique!
Trophy and Prize Winners
We are ecstatic to announce our award winners, recognizing the hard work, dedication, and talent of our members. Each recipient has demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment, and we are incredibly proud of them!
Roy Mangan Trophy – Lara Gascoyne: Lara has consistently delivered top-notch performances, often scoring above 75% in events.
Mercia Hope Evening – Vicky Brain: Vicky’s enthusiasm and dedication have shone brightly throughout the season, inspiring her fellow competitors.
Potential Event Horse – Dom Bevis: Dom has shown remarkable talent with his horse, earning commendations from several judges.
Area Eventing Championships – Bizzy Loffet, Alice Collings-Youngs, Fe Moore, Sophie Johnson: This talented quartet pulled off a team win, finishing with an impressive average score of 72%.
Intermediate Dressage Team – Chris Riley Trophy – Erin Angel, Helen Roberts, Beth Woodward, and Bizzy Loffet: This team showcased incredible synergy, winning their category at the last competition.
Western Horizon Trophy – Dressage Team of Bizzy Loffet, Helen Roberts, Vicky Clements, and Nicola Quinn: Their collaboration led them to achieve a 1st place finish in a very competitive field.
Montague Dressage Trophy – Intro Dressage Team of Amy Ferris, Caroline Amphlett, and Lucy Jewitt: This team stood out by clinching the top spot at their last event with a score that exceeded 68%.
Chairman’s Choice – Claudia Clarke: Claudia’s tireless efforts behind the scenes earned her this well-deserved special recognition.
Additionally, the Area 18 Horse Trials Trophy was awarded to Angelina Stytch, while the Helpers’ Draw winner was Fe Moore. Congratulations to all our winners! Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off.
Recent Competitions and Achievements
Area 18 Intro Dressage Qualifier
On March 29th, our talented riders participated in the Area 18 Intro Dressage Qualifier at the Unicorn Centre in Stow. The team, consisting of Kat Hopkins, Jo Ireland, Judi Dumbelton, and Holly Evans, had a phenomenal day, showcasing their skills and teamwork.
Individually, they achieved remarkable placings of 2nd, 8th, 3rd, and 1st, respectively, allowing them to win the team competition overall. This outstanding performance has secured them a spot at the Championships at Arena UK, where they will compete against over 50 other teams. We can’t wait to see them shine on that stage!
Arena Eventing at Rectory Farm
March 9th marked another thrilling day for Evenlode as we participated in the Arena Eventing at Rectory Farm. Our members competed across various heights, displaying their versatility and determination.
In the 70cm category, Pippa Bailey represented us admirably.
For the 80cm category, Lucy, Grace, and Pippa went all out.
In the 90cm, Vicky, Dom, and Claudia gave their best performances.
In the challenging 100cm category, Bizzy competed with two horses, while Ellie showcased her skills with one.
A special shoutout to Bizzy for earning 1st place with a double clear on both of her horses, George and Ren. Ellie also impressed everyone with her double clear and 3rd place finish. The 90cm team secured an admirable 6th place, displaying incredible teamwork and spirit. Well done, everyone! Your dedication is truly inspiring.
A Great Start to 2025!
We extend our congratulations to the riders who competed in the Area 18 Intermediate Dressage Qualifier at Allen’s Hill on February 9th. The Evenlode Green team, made up of Helen Roberts, Eleanor Trotter, and Beth Woodward, had a fantastic day, with a 1st, 5th and 9th respectively - winning the team competition overall! They are off to the Champs at the
end of April at Arena UK.
Team Evenlode Gold:-
Bella Clarkson, Alice Collings-Youngs and Katie Jones also had a successful day with a 5th, 15th and 3rd respectively, and an overall team placing of 15th.
Helen and Alice both rode another Novice test each, and alongside individual rider
Amanda James, gained a 5th, 8th and 29th.
Well done to you all - another great turnout from Evenlode RC.
The Winter Dressage Series finished on Wednesday 26th March - thank you to
everyone who has supported the series, either competing or helping, or both!
Results are as follows—a HUGE congratulations to you both!

Help is always needed for stewarding/dressage writing so please contact the club if you are able to help - your name will be put forward into the draw - for each time you help - for prizes in this year’s AGM!

Outstanding qualifiers for 2025
If you are interested in taking part in qualifiers, either as an individual or in a team
(where you will automatically be entered as an individual as well), please let team
captains Beth (dressage) and Katie (jumping) know.
As a club, we encourage everyone to take part in these events, there’s absolutely no
pressure - riding club is about fun and having a go, so please do!

Training
Training has proved popular already this year, there have been several polework/jumping clinics at Manor Farm with Abi Lloyd, plus training indoors at Hartpury, and outdoors at Rectory, CCR and Lyneham. More dates coming soon!
Training dates:
Sunday 11th May - Polework and Gridwork training with Abby Lloyd Coaching, Manor Farm.
There will be a clinic in June but the date is to be confirmed, please keep an eye on the Website for details.
